A lucky find

We are about to embark on another Eriba project that involves trying to match up as close as possible, the original wood colour and pattern.

Is it Cherry?

Anyway, first stop yet again is not the wood shop but the local recycling centre that has a charity shop attached where people can take in unwanted goods that are too good to scrap.

There is always an abundance of clean, good quality furniture there which can be taken apart and recycled and we found a solid wood coffee table with a 1" bevel edged top measuring 1200mm x 530mm. £12.00

Delighted as it's a very near match to our Eriba timber and it also has a decorative edging strip that looks like the Eriba door frames. Quite heavy however but I think I can make it work for what we wish to do.

A good find but definitely not Cherry Roger. Age does wonderous things to wood, but I would be guessing a bleached out bit of teak. This would tie in with the style, which appears to be 70's inspired Scandi.
I would suggest nothing more than a meths or white spirit dampened rag to lift the dirt before a thin coat of danish Oil or light waxing. Please avoid anything abrasive or treating with varnish.

B&Q's own brand cherry flavour kitchen cupboard doors from the very cheapo basic range were an excellent match to the Eriba interiors.

Don't know if they still do them though.

Colin,

agree - Teak. Also agree with the treatment, I tend to use oil as often as possible, simple to apply and maintain. NO to polyurethane etc

Roger, I wouldn't mind betting you could find a G-Plan label underneath that table.
