Hello all. We’re really looking forward to collecting our new Troll 530 from Automotive Leisure in Poole in May. We are ex campervanners - this is our first caravan so it feels like a big step. Can’t wait to get on the road and look forward to being part of this community.
We live in South West London and are looking for somewhere to keep the van when we get it - we need a base as we dont have a big enough front garden. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions??
Regards Janet (and Tom)

Hi Janet and Tom and welcome to Eribafolk

The question of storage is a difficult one as although there are 5 star storage facilities dotted around the country, many campsites also offer the facility so it's a case of shopping around.

Randa

ps. We'd advise getting a cover for the van. Auto leisure should stock them

Welcome,
I'm guessing you may be C&MC or CC members so should check there websites out for approved storage facilities. One of these would obviously also help with the obscene insurance premium you will probably soon be stung for.

Can’t help with storage advice as
1. We’re too far from London
2. We’re fortunate to have room at home for our Troll
Great choice of van, enjoy 😁

Janet You will find caravan storage an issue wherever land values are high, population density similarly so or the local planners are anti storage (also the more of these factors apply the higher the storage fees). You can try the clubs as suggested above but be careful some of the facilities are only for the time the camp site is open so you then have a problem over the winter when this will probably be when storage will be most needed. You can try the CaSSOA web site but trying a south west London search today produced no results. You may have to accept that the van is stored some distance from home to get a satisfactory facility. Try 'caravan storage' stating your preferred location (and be as wide as possible in the drawing of your area) search on the internet, find a friendly farmer or stables who often have spare bits of land.....but make sure your insurer is aware of the storage address. Thinking laterally if you tend to go to an area frequently say the Lakes or Cornwall can you find space there or on the way? if this produces an answer bear in mind not having easy access to the van for maintenance or merely packing up to go away can be a PITA!

Hi Janet & Tom and welcome to the Forum - he Troll530 is a great van and I'm sure that you will really love it.

Get al your "daft" questions ready as new caravaners for when you collect it from Automotive Leisure. We got ours from them in 2016 as total novices and Cameron was brilliant at answering our daft questions and getting us on our way.

We have friends who have had vans stolen from storage so just make sure that you are happy with the security arrangements. When we first looked we struggled to find somewhere we were happy with (we are in Lancashire). Eventually we had some flower beds demolished and got it on our drive.

Good luck

Thanks for the tips everyone - will get on the case to find somewhere to keep it. Wish we had a drive - I guess we could move, but that would be a bit drastic! Janet
