vin plate
lost ,vin plate
we have a 2015 530 Troll. and I was looking to find the vin plate, ii is not visible on the outside or in thr gas locker with the tyre info not in the wardrobe or any cupboard.
So do they put them on newer vans or am i just losing the plot. I know we ha had the Eriba for around 18month but cannot find its birthday date.

The VIN plate on our 2015 Troll 530 is stuck to the right of the door at the bottom edge of the body panel. Surprisingly it is a self-adhesive plastic one so may have peeled off your van.

The vin plate was traditionally located next to the door on all Tourings. When production moved to Germany the plate was then located inside the gas locker. I'm not sure if this was the case for the short lived Forever Young model.
A chassis or axle plate can also be found. Confusingly the axle plate on older will frequently show a higher figure than the vin plate. This is because Hymer bought in standard production chassis from Alko or BPW at the nearest above load figure relevant. You cannot use this figure for your max load and must abide by what the vin plate says.

I found the chassis plate on our 2005 Triton when i removed the front plastic moulding (coaming?) behind the hitch damper. There is also a list of ratings cut/stamped/engraved into the top of the main chassis rail behind the handbrake, running under the checker plate panel. Photos attached
As you will see, the plate (due to road dirt and grease contamination, etc.) is quite hard to read, even after a bit of photo enhancement...

The VIN plate has a set format that must legally be followed, any additional information that the manufacturer provides must clearly be separated by a line. Axle 1 is vans noseweight limit, Axle 2 is the weight limit on the single axle fitted and Axle 3 is the same for twin axle vans. MTPLM is the maximum the caravan can be legally loaded to and may or may not be the same as Axle 2.
MIRO is not required on a VIN plate and in any case is a misleading figure as it can vary even on seemingly identical vans due to production tolerances. It's especially misleading on Eribas, given the amount of optional extras fitted at the factory.

Steamdrivenandy - reading your message above, and with reference to the photo shown in the post above, of Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:07 pm, which contains three KG figures, could you say, please, what you think the numbers in the photo mean then i.e. referring to axle 1, 2 3 ? When you write 'axle 1' do you mean 'line 1' on the VIN plate? thanks

Sorry for the late response.
Axle 0 is the noseweight limit. Axle 1 is the single axle van's axle limit and axle 2 is a twin axles van's rear axle limit.
The van's MTPLM may, or may not tally with the axle limits, as it can be a figure allocated by the manufacturer,as long as it is the same or less than the axle limit.
