I noticed this was covered recently on the C&MC forum. It is a countrywide issue and not just with Calor.
The 6kg FloGas bottle is within mm of the same size as a CalorLite bottle but takes a different connector and is not swappable regarding deposit. Whilst this site is showing them sold out it could be an alternative.https://www.flogas.co.uk/product/6kg-pro...c=all-cylinders

Another alternative would be Safefill. The cylinder is expensive to purchase but the gas is half price thereafter. We carry one 7.5kg Safefill and one backup Calor Lite in our Triton. Safefill can be tricky to find however they are now advising that Morrison’s LPG filling stations will fill them.

I wonder what the country wide issue is, they need to pull their finger out and make hay while the suns shines with everyone wanting to go away in this country!

I wonder if the gas companies have concentrated on producing oxygen during the pandemic and got a bit behind with the propane??

When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

The Calor website says its the demand for bottles for patio heaters with everyone staying at home which is the problem.

Presumably, Campingaz isn't affected?

Time to resurrect an old thread.
We are off to Devon next month and thought some gas might be needed for when it gets very cold. Our 5 year old Calor Lite was nearly empty so I went in search of a refill. Big problem as still in very short supply. The Calor website showed Southport C&MC site as being a distributor, so a quick phone call came up trumps with two in stock.
If you need one it could be worth calling your local site. Why I had not thought of this earlier is beyond me.

Having bought my van in May last year this is my first winter experience and Today I thought I’d exchange a 4.5 empty calor butane for a 6kg propane, well that didn’t happen. Two local caravan shops would not exchange my bottle and will only do like for like on an exchange basis and said that this was the instruction from calor. That’s not stated on the calor website and according to them you can still exchange bottle sizes within a category. So I’ve emailed calor and I’m waiting for a reply. Off to Morrisons tomorrow and hoping they’ll be a bit more relaxed about the bottle exchange.

Just in case, don't forget you need a different regulator and fittings if you change from butane to propane.

Thought I’d have a quick about drive locally and came across a couple of filling stations with calor bottles that are not showing as retailers on the calor website. Managed to exchange my 4.5 butane for the 6 propane. Also Went and got the propane pigtail.

If it's a a bulkhead 30 ml bar regulator [which means most vans built after 2004] you don't need to change the regulator just the pigtail.

Quick Update.
I got an email from Calor to say they have asked all their retailers to do like for like exchanges only.
I suggested they update their website.
