Eriba Puck - bike and winter cover queries

Hello
We collected our 2005 eriba puck on Saturday and very pleased to have beds long enough for tall people.
I would like some advice about winter storage near very rainy manchester.
First
grass or concrete?
flat spot protectors or not?
winter cover - put it on and leave it? What about heavy rain / snow?
Any advice would be very helpful.
We would also like to carry bikes - we can put them on the car roof no problem, but is it better to modify the puck?
happy travelling

p.s. we purchased it from an exceptionally lovely seller who spent hours explaining the van's ins and outs...but I didn't really think about these

Welcome to the forum and Eriba ownership.
- Concrete better than grass
- Covers are a good idea and will keep your pride and joy clean
- I think your bikes might be wider than a PuckL so you cannot legally carry them on the van. Also Your payload is not that great and I see many of your model looking low on the suspension with age.

Following Colin's remarks, I agree concrete better than grass for storage but IMO grass is better than hardstanding for pitching, though maybe not if it's wet or muddy.
Covers good, unless you can get it under cover somewhere.
Never carried bikes so haven't bothered to bone up on the law relating to them.
Check your van's weights carefully. The MIRO of Tourings is set based on a bare bones van and most have quite a number of heavy options added which use up the available payload surprisingly quickly.

I've got a Puck L also & in my enthusiasm to carry bikes on it I fitted a rear carrier. This is fine when there is just my carbon road bike bike on it, but when I have my son's alloy mountain bike on there as well it is a lot of weight at the rear as this is where the Puck L has it's kitchen. I'll admit this led to a couple of occasions of minor snaking as I tootled past lorries on French péage.
Not a problem nowadays as he no longer holidays with us, but it might be worth looking into carrying bikes on the front of your Puck L.

DJP,
if you can safely use a carrier on the PuckL, considering weight and width issues, then use a Thule Express carrier on a jockey wheel mounted tow ball. Dom Fox has theses brackets on his site.
If you use the forum search facility you will find lots of info on this. These cover most of it:-
The simplest (and cheapest?) front-mounted bike rack fitting.
Draw bar mounted cycle carrier

Do watch out for weight.
The 2005 Puck L had a standard payload of 130kg and if upgraded that went up to 220kg.
There was a whole range of cost options available that could eat that payload.
A couple of full 6kg gas cylinders use about 26kg
Having the Autark battery and charger system another 15kg
Metal sprung bench cushions take 10kg
The AKS1300 hitch is 5kg
Those few items total 56kg without a stitch of clothing or teaspoon on board and there are lots of other items on the options list.
A bike rack and bike/s will weigh a fair bit too.
So sums are needed and that VIN plate by the door needs consulting.
