Prices
There's something inside me that objects to the idea of paying what we sold our beautiful 2005 Troll 540 for in 2013 for a 2005 Triton 420 in 2021.
I mean the things a bit smaller and originally a bit cheaper and 8 years older, more wear and tear, probably more corrosion and doesn't have a boiler or front dinette and they want the same price.
It just doesn't make any sense.

Someone asking £11k for a 2004 Familia on the FB pages.
Crazy prices in crazy times.
Maybe you would be better planning to buy once the season is over when prices will hopefully return to something normal.
The UK list price for a 2010 Familia was £11,589 according to Hymer's archive. They don't have UK prices for earlier, but the 2005 German price list has basic Familia's at 12,000 Euro, which was about £7,000 at that time. So they're selling a van that originally cost £7,000 to £8,000 for £11,000 16 years later. Nonsense

I've just checked caravan asking prices on Autotrader.
As a 2005 Eriba Familia has been mentioned at £11,000 I thought I'd see what other vans of that age are doing. Bear in mind that used caravan prices in general have been hyped, so they're probably higher than they would normally be.
Autotrader lists 38 2005 vans for sale with prices ranging between £1,000 and £8,000, the average price being about £5500.
13 two berths from £1,000 to £8,000
4 three berths ranging from £4,000 to £6,000
16 four berths from £3,500 to £8,000
1 five berth at just under £5,000
4 six berths range from £3,500 to £6,500.
So an average 2005 WWB is asking half the price of the Familia.

Prices of all caravans are sure to to fall when people are able to travel abroad more freely as restrictions are lifted.
We did the same Andy sold the our Troll 540gt 2003 I think it was off memory. Not wanting to have messers arriving at our house I sold to a dealer who paid me £9000. The same price as I paid some 7 years earlier bought it off Aggers a member from this forum. I think the dealer got somewhere in the region of £11000.
We where going to get a motorhome long story/cut short we decided to return to the Eriba fold. After looking at prices of a newish Troll we decided to bite the bullet and buy new. Granted we are going to take the big knock should we sell. But selling is not in the plan and as there is no re-run in this life we decided to spend the kids inheritance .
Hopefully all things going to plan we should take ownership late June/early July. We went daft and had everything fitted we wanted but hey ho. After a life time of grafting we thought you no what we deserve it. Good luck in your search Andy and I hope you get what you are looking for at the price you want to pay.

Whatever happened to ol' Aggers I wonder?
We downsized the house last August and Mrs SDA would say that I'm letting the money burn a hole in my pocket if we went for a new van.

I am sure that Stan is right in his comment. Once people can start to return to foreign travel and sunnier climes there will be a lot of tents, caravan and campervans that suddenly become surplus to requirements and may start to appear on the market.
I'm sure many of us have experienced camping holidays in the past when the weather was truly awful - we have had quite a few of these over the years. I'm sure there will be new campers who will be put off by mud and rain and cold and look for an alternative. I would guess that us Eriba owners are a hardier bunch...........................!
Although if you have reached the end of the line with your Eriba there has never been a better time to sell.

Ooh yes. I remember those doughnuts. You can never have too many doughnuts. 😁
The only downside to Agger was that he shamed the rest of us whose Eribas were not so sparkling clean. I could have given him a full time job keeping my house and Eriba in tip top sparkly condition.
