If you follow normal VIN code methodology the van was built in Germany (W) by Hymer (HY) and therefore post 2010 when German production commenced. However the year identifier is '4', which denotes 2004, which is odd. The conventional year code for 2011MY is 'B', as from 2010 letters were adopted as the standard. However if it was a 2004 the country of production would show France, not Germany. So contra indications.
Of course an exterior or interior picture would soon settle the year. My inclination is to 2011 because of the overall look and layout of the VIN plate decal, but that doesn't explain why the year marker is '4'.
I do dimly recall reading something, somewhere, that indicated that Hymer didn't follow the accepted VIN numbering convention, so maybe someone else can shed light on that.
