Hi
has anyone tried any portable mini air conditioning units? I have an Eriba Pan and may want to cool the inside by a few degrees I have seen a variety of ones which use cold water to improve the efficiency of the fan.

Having experienced 40c on more than one occasion with the van I briefly looked into one, but was advised not to bother.

Thanks for your reply. It is difficult to know which reviews are true and which are fake, on the websites.

Google “Pro-breeze” fans. I’m sitting here in 28 degrees with a wee libation, the fan on low and feeling very chilled. These fans clamp to your Eriba table and are very quiet, meaning the only person you could possibly offend is the other half, who originally said “ fan, fan, what the hell do we need a fan for?”.

Ha: my wife also complains about my "electrical gadgets": that is until they're needed but not there:)

PS when I asked him, my dealer advised me an AC unit wouldn't be necessary due the chimney effect afforded by Eribas: must admit even in this temperature today its not been too bad inside with the window blinds down an the pop-top up

Yes we have one, we leave it at home as it total c**p and noisy, better by far is to make some exterior blinds, they keep the van much cooler.

Hi can you tell me the name of the model of the unit you are chilling in front of. Also, does it cool the caravan or just the person in front of it.

It really is one of my better gadget purchases (I have many) and has definitely helped me survive the extreme temperatures we are having this week. It even has Mrs C approval which is strong praise indeed!

Thanks to everyone who replied. The fan sounds good for when I am in the van. I was looking at these mini air conditioning units that are supposed to chill the air using cold water and are quiet. I take my cat and did not want to leave her inside in hot weather, when we go out. She does not cope well with conventional fans.
However the small units get mixed review and I do not know which to believe.

If the cat does not cope well with a conventional [rotary] fan, then how about one of the tower models. These tend to be a bit more powerful for the footprint they occupy and often have a built in cut off timer.Google "desk top tower fan" and you should hopefully find one less than 30" high. We have one round about 24".
