Hello all - been on here for a while absorbing the collective knowledge before buying my first Eriba. Anyway - after 30 years of tent camping we’ve now taken the plunge and bought a 2010 Puck L 230GT. First trip away last week was a great success - so easy to tow and pitch and we already feel at home in it. I’m sure we will have many questions and tips to pick up in the future so it’s great to be part of such a knowledgeable group. All the best, Mike

Welcome Mike and well done on finding your Puck L. It will have been one of the last made.

Hi Mike and welcome to Eribafolk . A 2010 Puck L? That's a very late one then as they stopped producing them then.

Does the VIN plate still say it was made in Cernay France?

No, there doesn’t appear to be any indication of where it was manufactured on the VIN plate - just Hymer AG, the type number, weight and serial/chassis numbers.

June 2019 we met a couple on a campsite in The Loire running a 2010 Puck L. It was supposedly the last one out of the factory in Cernay, December 22nd I think. It's therefore safe to assume no Puck L was manufactured in Germany.

I’ve emailed Hymer enquiring about the possibility of a weight upgrade so hopefully I may find out more about its build date etc. as well.

Your Puck L in the 2008 brochure is listed as 790kg with an optional upgrade to 850kg. I do not recall later models as having higher limits. This means that Hymer only ever type approved your van to this maximum figure of 850kg. Your axle may well say 1050kg, but this will make no difference and Hymer will not budge over the max figure the van was sold with.
I tried back in 2011 with a 850kg Familia running on a 1050kg axle. All I could get was a 900kg plate as this was the maximum tested weight the van was ever sold at.

Thanks Colin. My body plate shows 790kg and axle plate 850kg but that would be plenty for me. When I got the van I took it to a Weighbridge empty, apart from a single full 6kg gas cylinder, and was shocked to get a result of 780kg, so shocked in fact that I took it to a different Weighbridge only to get the same result. I do have battery, motor mover, spare wheel etc etc so I guess the options fitted have taken almost all the payload. An extra 50kg would give me so many more options when packing the car and van.
