I have to admit it is difficult for me to understand the 540 sleeping arrangements. If you used the long singles and wanted to sit up in bed then it would make sense to lean against kitchen side and wardrobe with the tv on the little cupboard, but then you would be sleeping the wrong way to each get out of bed easily in the night.
Or do you throw the pillow down to the rear window end when it's time to sleep, watching tv or reading?

Hiya Colin we used to have the tv on the cabinet when we had the last 540 but it restricted any view you had out of the large rear window. We find it better fixed onto the wardrobe side a lot more convenient. It is out of the way and also just locks back when traveling which is win win. There is an Eriba for all but if we changed this one we both have said it would be another 540 the lay out works for us.

So easy after a long walk to relax lying back on the long seats and keeping the front end table and seats for eating drinking.

I have also done the converted the front two seats/beds with the roller sliders so they slide out really easy no tugging/pushing. I have also put aluminum edges on as well to protect the edges and they even slide out easier. And have put the gas struts onto each side the seats/beds they now lift themselves up and stay up. We don't bother with a TV, but if we had one I don't think I'd fix it anywhere when there are so many places to stand one at either end of the van. To my mind the modern central cabinet is not as good as the older version with the extendable table top.

Yes, that’s what we have, the end cabinet with the extendable table top. It’s really handy, but we also have a stand-alone table which is stored in the wardrobe.

I will agree with you there steamdriver the build quality of the wood is no where as good as our 2004 model but that is where it ends in my opinion.

The electrics the lights the underframe galvanized steel work onboard water tank and heating the plumbing flushing loo etc etc. But again of course this is all my own opinion. Based on having both older and new!

The tv again my own opinion some people take them some don't personal choice nothing wrong with either. However having it on the wardrobe side means you save important space in the Eriba. We had it on the extendable table in the last Troll and did not like it there in fact we did not like it anywhere we sited it it was just in the way.

But now on the wardrobe side there is no setting it up and no storing away safe it just clips out when you arrive and just clips back when you go end of. When the weather is fine and sunny we would not be in watching the tv it is purely for foul weather times and last thing at night as we relax last thing. How ever you have your Eriba if it works for you then it is right.

On our 420 we tend to have the head end at the back. I did find I had to remove the two disks that hook onto the seat back cushions as they shredded my shoulder as well as the back of the cushion. We tend to keep it as one wider and one narrow bed to keep a gap. Guess who gets the narrow one?

The weird thing I've found is that sleeping on the 2ft wide narrower bed is actually no different or uncomfortable than sleeping on the fully extended single at 3ft wide. I'm 6ft 2ins and 18 stone so I'm not tiny, but I don't notice the lack of width at all. Mrs SDA insists on having a fully extended 3ft side but she's tiny. All I can think is she has a phobia of falling out of bed, but she's a very still sleeper, so I don't think there's any risk of that happening.
As to getting out of bed when facing rearward, my experience is that I tend to slide my legs out first and end up sitting by my pillow to put on slippers. I then stand up and I'd be one step nearer the loo than if I'd slept the other way around.
