Nice to be back...

...after just over 2 years of being Eribaless.
Of course over that time we weeded out all our old caravan stuff, sold some, charity shopped the rest....won't need that any more....why do I have 3 bags of pegs?.... You get the idea. Even my forum account went!
June 2020 we thought about a van again - I even rushed out and bought a rear plate... but it never happened.
Then some time in the last few weeks the idea took root again. Maybe the time was right - OK we both have health issues but we're learning to live with it (I think it's called 'Getting Old' - not to be recommended!). So the only thing we really found was a bit of a problem with our '17 Triton 410 was the lack of a toilet. OK we had the gorgeous purple Kampa King Khazi but that only really worked at night when the front table had to be removed to make room - etc etc. Nothing insurmountable just a bit of a faff during the day if we didn't want to go out in the rain just to have a pee. Oh yes - and the some major issues with the cupboards on our van as well which took a long year of to and fro and so did we want to look at Eriba again????
Anyhoo - we actually started looking at WWBs - nice big end washroom, microwave, lots of storage, HEADROOM!, and all the charm of a pedestrianised High Street at 3am in February. AND the size of those things! I stood at the back of one - actually not bad (Bailey Unicorn Seville 2012) and looked up and thought You know what - this thong is taller than my garage roof - it'll block sunlight to my loving room and I just do not want to play! Oh, that and the perpetually clammy walls in the wardrobes.... then I started reading about the way they were built and all the leaks and other problems and we thought - naah! Lets go and look at some proper vans again.
So - long story sideways we're picking up our 2004 Troll 540 GT in ten days. It's one owner and in really lovely condition with little or no sign of wear and tear. Goodness me - these French vans were so much better built! Woodwork is much less flimsy. Even though the roof line is lower you can actually access the cupboards over the bed just by reaching rather than contorting into odd shapes, the cupboard doors have proper articulated crank hinges so there is no strain on anything when they open, the padded ceiling is just nice to the touch, lovely insect net all the way round the pop top is a nice idea instead of the velcro panels and I suspect it is in part responsible for the excellent condition of the canvas.
All I've got to do now is get a gas spanner, ramps, water carrier..... oh yes and all the melamine stuff and, and and........ Oh well - off to try and buy a couple of 3.9kg Propanes today - I hope. Off on our travels soon.

Thank you all - sorry about the typos - I have had to move my keyboard a bit to the left to help reduce the effects of too much screen/mouse time over the last couple of years so sometimes it comes out a bit funny.....
