Motor mover advice please

Hello all - being a litlle person wtih an awkward little driveway I am looking into the cost of a motor mover and - wow! These things are are a fortune...and I am correct in thinking you need 2, one for each wheel?! This would be for an eriba familia 320 or a duo, so the smallest, but even so, not great for my back to be trying to move it manually into position (or stop it rolling down my slight incline!)

We waited years before we bit the bullet and installed it last year. It has changed our life. Changing campsites is no longer a chore. She lives in a hangar with a concrete lip that we used to have to push her over..... in a very narrow space, nwt it's a breeze. Especially as you're on your own.... a necessity. And yes, you need one for each wheel or she'd go round in circles They're small vans , but they're heavy. I can't push our Triton at all.

Actually you only need one motor mover. They come with two motors, one for each wheel.
So you don't need to double up the price.

Doesie, you are correct in that movers cost a fair bit. On an Eriba they are generally more expensive than on other vans as the chassis is different and adaptor brackets are needed. I would start my search here as they have a good reputation, fit regularly to Eriba vans and I doubt you will get much lower on price.
https://www.midlandmotormovers.co.uk/ The Reich Easydriver and Powertouch Evolution are generally the two that most folk go for. Also worth a look are https://www.caravanmoversonline.co.uk/index.html
You do not need to go for the more expensive automatic engage models, in fact we deliberately avoided this on grounds of cost and "less to go wrong"

Thank you for the advice. It's a very expensive set of two then! Best to find a caravan with them already installed and included in the price methinks

Hi,
We have a slight incline also, and normally I can pull our Troll up to the gateway, but have back trouble occasionally so wanted a backup plan.
We have had motor movers on our previous big vans but I didn’t want the weight or the battery drain, so I bought a ‘Mr Shifta’; these are only available used now as the guy who made/designed them is retired, but they regularly appear on eBay for £3-400.
It’s not as smooth as a permanent mover, but after use I just put it back in the shed for next time.
It’s also given us the ability to have the troll stored ‘nose first’ for extra security when there are longer gaps between use.
Not for everyone as I’m sure others will comment but it works for us and it keeps the weight down. - worth considering at least.🙂

Only problem is that you don't have it with you for use on site. There aren't always handy people to help.

One thing that I had not considered when going the mover route was how easy it is to level the van across the axle. Yes you can pull it up your levelling wedge or block of wood with the van and then chock it, but when it comes to leaving it is so much easier with a mover to get that wedge out and the van hooked up. When going solo the mover really does come into its own.

Doesie,

did you read my post above? You don't need two.
One motor mover at £1000 approx operates both wheels.
You can't get a motor mover for one wheel only!

Has anyone got the Reich Easymover auto engage pro 1.8 fitted? If so is there a seperate key power engagement on it or is it all controlled from the handset as in power on and off? On our current van we have the old style mover manually engaged with a seperate keyed power activator in the van. On our new van we are having the auto engage but wondered if we still had to activate by inserting a power key inside the van. We will be tight for space in our garage so where we can now get in the old van to turn power on or off we wont be able to get in the new van in our garage.
Many thanks

I have the basic version. This has a key isolator and I believe the pro also has. Why not have the isolator switch relocated to just inside the door, or inside your under bed locker hatch. This is not uncommon and the route Ill take if/when we replace our Triton.

I've fitted many Easydriver Pros to Eribas and always recommend having the remote switch installed - usually just inside the main door.

The switch is a Reich option and connects by a 3-way cable to the base unit's PCB.

The standard red key switch can't be mounted any further from the leisure battery than the supplied cables allow due to the very high current drawn by the mover.

Edited to add:

Mick, if you had the Reich remote switch, instead of having it permanently mounting by the door you could just hang it out of the front (or rear) window on its cable.

That would work
