Caravan covers

As a new Eriba owner and new caravanner (although long term Motorhomes) we’re thinking about buying a cover for our Troll Ocean Drive. There seems to be a huge discrepancy in price between bespoke covers for around £300 to £350 and off the shelf, the right sort of size, ones for about £165 to £185. Is it worth investing in the bespoke version?

A lot depends also on the quality, I have a bespoke cover from specialized for my Familia. It fits very snug with a door so I can access it, the material is very good quality, this will be it's 10th season I have used it. The only issue with a generic cover is that it will be made to fit a lot taller and wider van, if it is too lose fitting there is a danger you could get chaffing on the windows and paintwork. Having said that some Eriba owners do use generic covers with no issues and I am sure you will also get some advice from their experiences.

We’ve used a bespoke cover this winter for the first time, and it definitely helps with resisting the flapping from gales etc; we uncovered it 2 weeks ago and it looks perfect! (Well, it did before the rain started.)
Definitely fitted for my money!

I'm unusual in that in my Eriba ownership from 2003 until 2017 my vans had always been garage stored. For 2017 following a house move I bought a generic Kampa cover as our van would be outside. It was not a perfect fit and so I put lots of straps on it. Since then we have been back indoors, but a house move this summer means we will no longer be able to garage store our van. I see no reason why our generic cover will not fare well, again given lots of straps, but when the time comes I will get a model specific Eriba cover. What make I do not know, but I suspect if Kampa have availability issues sorted it would be one of theirs as the price of others brings me to tears.

We have been using covers for over 15 years on our vans. Have purchased one for the Troll which was made for it. We live opposite a wood, so the cover protects the van really well.

Having had a generic cover on our '17 Triton 410 - which didn't even fit where it touched - I'm heading for a Protec this time - especially as there's an Omnistore to take account of. Also the Protec fitting process seems so much easier than the generic cover which was always 'interesting'. Yes they are expensive but...

Yeah, our Protec cover has the roll up back panel. This makes fitting, a dream.

I’d love one of the covers from Hymer but £600 is just too much!
