to lift bag clear of the door, to increase in rear height to improve slope, also when full awning deployed rail will act divert water away from lower rail, there are also more benefits to be had having the higher rail option.

Looking at Post #4 - I like the chimney, satellite dish dish and aerial you have on your Eriba roof. What year was that standard? Or was it an option?

Cheers! Simon

What length rail did you buy for your Triton?

Aaron, I carried out this mod about 3 seasons ago. The first reason is that I have two awnings that are designed for a "low van" My Triton 430 is at the lower end of the range of adjustments of these awnings and they don't fit particularly well. The extra 100mm or so added height improves the fit a great deal. It also increase the slope of the awning roof from rail to front to reduce the chance of pooling. It also allows the door to open without scraping across the underside of the roof.
Finally, the inevitable water leak from the Keder strip is picked up by the original lower awning rail which stops the leaks running all the way down.

One of the best modifications that I have made to my van so far.

I've fitted the higher rail to both of the Pucks I've owned and like you it was to raise the caravanstore awning above the door. Like Ray, I used Sikaflex adhesive with a couple of self tappers just to hold it whilst it cured. Seems a lot less drastic than the drilling you done, but at least you'll be able to remove it, there is no way the Sikaflex will allow removal!

What a lovely job and such a nice clean smooth shiny roof. All you now need to do is clear up all the crap off the floor before you get moaned at.

All ready had that ear full off her indoors, I think it was the worst part of the job removing the excess off.

On another thread somebody mounted the cups moulding on a short strip of awning cord, this could be slid in upside down so the cups sat above the awning rail and where closer to the underside of the canopy material.
