What a job oh dear 540gt getting the tap off is very fiddly but you can do it. I took tap to local caravan shop he had a reich tap in he said that will do! how much £87.50. As we are going away this Saturday and knowing Eriba parts are pretty much out of stock and a very long wait at best. I decide to take the plunge and go for it.

Hang on he says we have a kit to fix that but when we have tried it never works? and by the time we have tried time is money and the customer is paying cheaper to replace the tap.

How much for that then £7.50 but you wont get it to work in fact we don't sell them it is just one we have shoved in the corner.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! decision time look he says buy the tap and the repair kit if you get repair kit to work then bring the tap back I will give you your money back £87.50 return.

Well good news after fiddling around for a couple of hours tap repaired £7.50 total cost. So I have £87.50 coming back tomorrow happy days.

Years back we had a cold water 540 that had a leaking kitchen tap. Back in those days there was an independent Touring range dealer that operated from a bungalow in Alsager, about 7 miles from home. I rang him and got a replacement cold tap for a fiver. He used to get his used vans from the Continent and often UK buyers wanted hot water fitted, so he ended up with a box full of used, but perfectly workable cold only taps, as he'd had to fit hot/cold mixer taps in their place. I'm not sure what happened to him, the last I heard his bungalow was up for sale about 5 years ago.

I had nothing to do on this hot afternoon
But to settle down and write you a line

Hiya yes mine was the hot and cold mixer tap, he said that would be the problem when I had fit it swapping from hot to cold and vice versa. He said it was very unlikely I would get the tap to line up and get any water out at all. Don't want to speak to soon but all looks ok at the moment checked for leaks fingers crossed all is well we will see Morphy.

We’ll done that man!
When you go back for your refund you could offer to train their guys how to do the repair and make a bit of brass! 😀👍

Have you got details of the repair kit so we can source them when that bl**dy Jack Frost strikes again?

Steve.

I have Steve the one and only one he had was this one 35mm Ceramic Cartridge part CT901 stocked by Pennine Leisure Supplies. But they ship out to dealers if you go on there web site they provide you with a list of dealers near you who stock them.

The one I took out was a Reich 490. Hope this info will help someone who suffers the same fate.

Tap cartridges are fairly universal, does yours look like this one, Morphy?

It does John and a couple quid cheaper I panicked slightly due to going on holiday at weekend after getting the Eriba ready I came across the leak. Still I can take the tap back and get the money for that. Cheers John.
