Hi all and greetings from New Zealand. I am looking at importing a new Eriba 430 60 from the UK and would be grateful for advice from other owners.
We are trying to work out what upgrades are useful. One of the key things for us would be the bed comfort and whether a transverse fixed bed would be more comfortable than the convertible seating option.
Another thing we are trying to work out is whether the 10 litre gas or the 5 litre electric water heating option is best, or if in practice either is necessary.
Has anyone added solar power and is it practical on this size Eriiba?
Any other ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Many thanks.

Welcome Graeme. we are on our 4th Eriba Touring and our second Triton 430.
My first bit of advice is do not narrow your supplier down to a UK supplier. I would be thinking Dutch or German. They have been dealing in the vans for far many more years and have greater knowledge base of the vans. Try here for inspiration. All the dealers I have contacted over the years have communicated perfectly in English, so no problem there.https://www.eriba.com/gb/en/service/dealer-search Click top right then you can choose a dealer location for different countries and if you have a translation tool on your toolbar it's a doddle.
Back to the van:-
- Get the biggest upgrade you can, so 1300kg would be the model limit.
- Hot water divides owners, but I would not be without it. The 5L electric only offers two sinks full of hot washing up water within 15 minutes or so and serves us well. Only if going "off grid the gas/electric combination may be worth your while.
- Outside water fill is not really needed as you have the 30L onboard tank.
- Making the rear dinette up into a bed does not take long and is comfortable, but for us the fixed option is far better as there is only the two of us now. It also gives you a higher bed that is easier to get in and out of and extra/more useable storage for lighter items. The standard mattress is fine, you do not need the sprung option, but an aftermarket topper is a good idea.
- For heating the optional electric element on the gas fire is a very good idea. You also need to spec the blown air heating option to get the warmth around, 12v 0r 230v. The gas fire performance is beyond what most of us ever need and 1000 watt of electric heating will suffice even in winter. Most owners actually find a free standing 500 watt oil filled radiator is up to the job.
- Comfort seating in the front is a little known option that we went for and are very pleased with it. I think this is actually standard on the 60 edition.
- Premium jockey wheel is wider than standard so digs into mud less and with the integral nose gauge gives an instant indication of your all important nose weight.
- Don't bother with underfloor storage hatch.
- The anti-skid system is seldom specified as the vans tow so well.
- Front cycle carrier is a fine piece of kit and worth considering if you plan to possibly take a bike with you.
- Space is very tight if you have a 3 burner hob, just go for two and carry a small cheap single induction hob for extra capacity/use outdoors/saving gas.
- Unless you are less that 5 foot tall forget the shower head option.
Finally, I'd consider the Troll 530 if going to the expense of specifying up a vehicle so heavily and adding in the cost of shipping it would npot add much to your bill.

I'd agree with what's been said.
Just wondering why you fixed on a 430 Triton and not a 420 or Troll?
If you're thinking of mostly off grid pitching then maybe not worth fitting mains electric options. If you're always going to use pitches with mains hook ups then go ahead and add mains options.
I had nothing to do on this hot afternoon

Thank you for your comprehensive reply Colin. Do you have any thoughts on Caravan covers. Ours when it arrives will be kept outside.

Thanks for your reply steamdrivenandy. We are looking at the 430 due to having a limited space to park it and a tricky driveway. We will likely use the van both off grid and at powered sites so will have to spec accordingly.

Protec https://pro-teccovers.co.uk/ and Specialised Covers https://www.specialisedcovers.com/caravan-covers are the posh models models. At least one of them offers a made to measure service to accommodate anything extra you have bolted to the van.
I bought a generic Kampa cover when I had to store my van outside under a carport. They now do an Eriba model specific cover which is very good and a fraction of the cost of the earlier mentioned models. I do not know about availability as I cannot see them listed on there website, but it would be worthwhile doibg a search for them https://www.kampaoutdoors.com/en-gb/uk/p...ies/covers-care
