Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for a decent electric caravan kettle, obviously not to high wattage

Low wattage kettles sold for camping are around 750W, they don't hold much water and take ages to boil.

Although standard domestic kettles are 3kW and will draw 13 Amps there are 1.5kW (6 or 7A) kettles available which would be a good compromise.

Like this one.

Our present kettle is an early 0.85L Russel Hobbs travel kettle. It was so cheap I thought I'd buy two. That was in 1999 and the first is still going strong, getting a descale every couple of years.

Well, I wouldn't get that particular one I linked to , Brian - you'll be cussing me every time you switch it on and trip the site's mains.

I should have looked at the reviews before posting!

If you can't trust an electronics expert to recommend a bloody kettle, who can you turn to?

My kettle was £15 on ebay under COPCO vintage kettle ( my nephew has been using a similar one for years) and it is robust ( enamelled) and it seems quicker than electric. Besides, it makes me smile! It has a great two tone whistle too. Just a thought…

Kampa Tempest 1 litre - works well, quick enough for 2 mugs of tea and doesn't taste 'nasty' like some of these smaller kettles.
