I've lived with a similar issue since new. I believe JohnE said the earthing problem lies with the individual hob connection underneath. It is a pain to get at. Lowdham "repaired" mine at 1st service but it has never been perfect and they left the hob loose. I araldited the hob retaining screws into work surface, as they would not hold, and now use a hand held igniter.

Thanks Randa
That’s good advice. In my case the ring stays lit once it’s lit. But I have to use a match because there’s no spark when I press the button. The other ring sparks and lights every time.
I can only assume a loose connection to the igniter as Colin mentioned?
