Tailor made living area carpets UPDATE

Looking for living area carpets for our Touring 550 2013 model, it seems Hymer no longer supply them so I'm looking for custom made alternatives. An internet search throws up a lot of companies that offer to make them using the old one as a template, which of course we haven't got. Anyone come across a company that already has Eriba templates, or is there another solution?

As above, make a template but then take it to your local carpet shop. They should have a suitable off-cut that you will like and then have the edges bound.

I bet it will be lovely and cosy but how do you keep it clean? It's such a tiny space. I've thought about it but we just use mats.

The Troll had been fitted with some cut to size pieces of polypropolene carpet. Doesn;t sound particularly luxurious but it is hard wearing, doesn't need the edge binding and can be kept clean with the use of a stiff brush when out and about. This was done by a previous owner but I have to say, it does seem to work very welll

Carpet tiles, you can pick them up to do any spot cleaning

Perhaps it's because most of our holidays are by the beach so sand is everywhere. Those floors can be chilly, though! I shuffle up and down the caravan with a bathmat under my feet LOL

Took advice from fellow posters and eventually found a suitable offcut of carpet. I used wallpaper as a template and took this back to the carpet shop who then cut end edge bound it, all in an hour or so. Total cost around £85!

Hi Capn
Do what we did and get some Flotex carpet tiles and cut them to fit using a paper template as above.
It is a fiddly job but very rewarding when done. Flotex are easy to clean in situ but if your cocker makes a big mess of a few take them out and hose them down as they have a waterproof backing. Let them dry out and then back in the van.
Flotex is not cheap but there are often sales in colours and styles that aren't popular. We have had ours down for two seasons and it is so much better than the mats we had down before.
I will see if I have a photo somewhere
Cheers

We were wondering about this for our Eriba 430. Currently using a collection of ikea bathmats and rugs because the floor is flipping chilly at this time of year! We have three mini schnauzers so having something we can stick in the wash at the end of the trip is useful. We never bothered with any carpet in our Go-Pod to make it easier to keep clean.
