That rain/ weatherstrip thingy Kampa Air Pro

Hi all,
Feel I should have figured this out for myself by now but quite honestly I can't see how best to fit this.
We have an Erba 420 and a Kampa 340 Air Pro.
They go up together really well but during a recent very heavy storm we had water spraying in through the overhead join between the caravan and the awning.
Now I know we have an accessory to solve this but never tried it out.
It's a long piece of wiggly rubber with a bendy metal core and a channel on one side.
But How does it fit ??
Any help would be appreciated especially a nice pic showing location ... and any fitting tips.
I am attaching a picture to identify the exact model of 'drip guard'
Thanks in advance EribaFolkWeather Strip.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

As per your picture...turn it upside down , ie slot at the bottom. You now have a smooth side and a lumpy side. Fit the smooth side so it faces the roof and the lumpy side away from the roof. If it is longer than the channel on the van, make both overlaps the same. Sorted !

I'll go and have a look now and see if it all makes sense to me. 🥴

Well I think that's how it fits ??
I assume that this is fitted to the caravan before mounting the awning.
And it just sits there balanced on the rail ... the wind wont blow it off ?

Hope not

It’s purpose is to divert the rain away from the awning as it cascades down from the roof. Hence my comment about overhang either end if possible.

Yes fit before the awning or you will have to climb the awning !!

That looks a lot easier to install than the rigid white plastic thingy we have got. Can you order them separately?

If you do forget to fit it first before putting up your awning (like me )... I discovered that you can just reach it though the triangular zip opening in the pop up material to push it on.

I also found that some water still got through (by osmosis past the awning cord). I followed someone else's advice and pushed a blob of Blutak firmly into the awning rail at either end of the awning cord and that stopped almost all water penetration.

Not thought of that one - thanks

I reproofed the awning cord on our Popair but it didn't totally solve the slight water ingress. What you suggest might help. Will try it next time we use the PopAir

You will always get some wicking down the side of an Eriba when the awning is on, but you can reduce it. Your awing did experience a very good soaking in the summer of 2019 and it’s performance improved over that week and should get better with a further few soakings.
The gutter strip does help, as does soaking the awning cord with fabric proofer. I never got around to trying the blue tack truck, but see no reason why this would not work. Another consideration would be a long cable tie fed through the drain holes in the awning track. These holes must be kept clear of leaves.

Frankly don't mind a little bit of leakage -I'm rather more used to roughing it with my earlier camping experiences
The Eriba and awning are a level of luxury I've never had before.... Probably never be able to go back to the old days now.

Broken several fingernails feeding the awning cord into the roof and my wife didn't know I can swear in so many different languages, but I think I'm getting the hang of it now.
Never had to erect it in really bad weather yet - that's an experience I may face this coming weekend when we have a quick trip up to the Northumberland coast.

Anyone know how to fit one of these when you have a Thule canopy fitted? We haven't used our awning yet and have only used the canopy, so not sure how it would work...
