Has anyone done this? There's been a conversation on the French faceache page and it sounds interesting. I'd be too scared about not getting it back on if I were to take it off to clean it, and I'm not sure it would clean very well anyway. What do you all think?

Hi Islay. We took ours off on 2018 and gave it a thorough c going over.
It made a hell of a difference and is still good to this day.
See the "How To" section, the eighth thread down.

Wondered about this myself Islay, with such a light coloured pop top material degrading
over time. In how to remove and clean.
Informative detailed post on 'How To' Randa. A job well done and well worth the effort.
Worth checking the pop top elastic. Quote from Pete at Kool "new pop top elastic added
during an annual service. it's so important to make sure your elastic is tight and hasn't failed.
If this isn't working your canvas will sit outside, degrade and draw in water". Also mentioned
in How To guide by Aaron Calder 'Pop Top Shockcord'.

Thanks. I read that but I still don't think we'd be brave enough to try that LOL. I'd only do it if the repair shop agreed to take over if we failed first LOL.

You could try cleaning it in situ, just make sure you cover all the hard surfaces and remove all the soft furnishings first. We did remove the canvas to clean it in our Triton. Using the proper products it did come up beautifully but it was a real struggle to get it back in and I believe the canvas was stressed and may not have stood up to much future use. Sadly the van was written off in an accident within a few months (not our fault) so the durability of the canvas was never tested.
If you think you can manage it then go for it or clean it in situ which will probably look just as good. To be honest our Troll canvas will need cleaning next year but I won’t be removing it.

We decided to have our Triton pop-top canvas replaced by a workshop that specilises in replacing or repairing them.
The caravan will be with them for three weeks and it's located in the Centre of the Netherlands.

Don't spray it on, pour it into a large yogurt carton or similar then paint it on, much more efficient and less wasteful, also use a piece of cardboard on the fiberglass as the 303 will make it go dull.
