We have an onboard water tank. For filling I have a 10l water bottle with a tap. This sits nicely on top of the tank filling via the removed screw on lid. Never use the external filler (dont have a pump). This is good as you dont have to hold anything whilst filling, and can get on with something else.

Mine is also new, with no spare. I bought a spare rim and tyre by shopping around for about £110. It weighs about 20kg and after reading all the negatives about spare wheel carriers, it's now in a bag in the car!
