The Triton 420 and the Troll 540 have been manufactured since around 2000 but for about 5 or 6 years before that they were introduced as the Triton TM and Troll LMT. This was in the old language and these models, prior to that, approx pre 1994 were called the Triton M and Troll LM without a washroom/toilet. All 420 and 540 models have long beds called Langschläfers and for some reason they were not that popular in France in the 1990s and the French brochures did not offer them.

The models from around 1994 to around 2000 (with toilet and washroom) are still around as are the L and the LM which preceeded them and are very well built. The layouts during that time and since have not changed but for different colour schemes, tail lighting etc. However, since 2010 these models and all others have a shallower roof line (not as curved) and a slightly taller door.

Quite often folk now refer to the 1994 to 2000 models by their new name, the 420 and the 540.

The Triton is about 5.2m in length. The two most common models sold are the 420 and 430. The 420 has two long sofas at the back and a kitchen at the front. The 430 has two short sofas at the back and a smaller sofa area at the front.
The Troll us about 5.9m in length.
Best idea is look on the Leisure First website and you will see a good range of examples and all should become clear.

A Triton is always a Triton and all are the same overall size.

A Troll is always a Troll and is about 500mm longer than a Triton. Newer Trolls are 100mm wider than Tritons and are 2100mm wide.

Here are the layouts of the most popular models including your Triton 420 and Troll 540. Note that the 420 has a front kitchen and is therefore only a 2 berth while the 540 has a side kitchen and is a 3 berth.

We have a 1998 Triton 430. As Colin says, dinette for 4 at the back, for 2 at the front. In the middle, kitchen, wardrobe and bathroom. 420 doesn't have a bathroom. It depends what is the most important for you. The build quality of ours is fantastic. Apart from changing an element in the fridge, we haven't had any problems. The newer ones seem to have more build problems.
