Hi, I am having trouble with my tow hitch not engaging fully on tow bar. The hitch is the the correct position but the problem seems to be with the lever
which either doesn't raise up fully or doesn't lower and lock in position. I have checked manual and it doesn't look like my tow hitch so I have posted photos . To get the lever to go fully up before dropping on the tow ball I often have to release a sprung catch on the underside of the hitch mechanism. Any ideas?

You have a Winterhoff hitch. I had one on my 2006 Familia. I remember it was not a straightforward hinge/pivot mechanism. I seem to recall that as you pushed the lever down you also had to push it forwards slightly.

I remember sometimes having trouble with it releasing whilst unhitching if there was any compression of the hitch brake mechanism or if we were pointing uphill.
I swapped it out on several vans but decided on the more bulky Alko version eventually.
