Hi Julie,
Sorry for not replying; I’ve only just seen your question for some reason. (Fat fingers on the iPad probably!)
We had just completed a 3-week tour of the Pyrenees when the 530 was damaged, and while we were away we set up the rear dinette as a full-time bed as we were able to spend most of our time outside. “Wouldn’t it be nice to change to a fixed bed?” said Mrs gadget, “but it would cost a fortune to swap and we’ve got everything else just as we want it.” Talk about asking for trouble!
The background to this is that we’ve been Ralliers for years with the local CAMC group, and have spent most of our holidays away with caravanning friends, socialising in the evenings in one another’s vans. 2 couples in particular. Dinettes are needed for playing cards and getting tipsy 😵 - doesn’t work with a fixed bed!
Anyway, we’ve not been rallying much recently and this year one couple split up and the other couple had to give up the caravan life due to failing health, so all of a sudden we were Billy no mates.
So, after all that explanation (if you’re still awake😂) we went to look for a replacement van with fixed bed and thought the 550 has a more accessible front dinette.
We’re just back from our maiden voyage, a week in Kirkby Stephen, and this layout seems to be working for us. (Well, it’s got to now hasn’t it!)
Steve.
