If you want to message a Marktplaats seller, you need to create an account. If you try to do that, you have to put a phone number in for security verification.

I don't have an issue with that per se, but the problem is that a UK phone number isn't recognised, so you can't get any further.

Does anyone know of a way to get round this?

I've just checked my login details. I registered some years back and it looks like a phone number was not required. I've also found my e-mail address is an old one, but I cannot update it as you've guessed it, I need to put in a phone number and it will not recognise a UK number.
If/when you do manage to get into the system then this is the sort of page that appears, where you will see it is possible to message a seller.
