Eribas not selling at the moment

I have just had my annual Christmas wishes from a well known Eriba dealer and as usual I opened up the site for a nose around.

I was totally stunned by the number of new and used Eribas for sale, especially Trolls and some 600s.

We have recently discussed the problems dealers seem to have at the moment in moving their stock and what has happened at Leisure First, and this seems to back all of that up..............have Eribas gone out of fashion and are people buying Base Camps, Adria Actions & micro-vans instead?

Or have camper vans taken over the market place once occupied by Eribas?

Food for thought

The situation has been going on for some time. Has the Eriba price bubble finally burst?
I've now noticed dealers have vans similar to the 2017 Triton we sold last year up for the same as we were paid trade in. Things are not good.

Hi Colin

Their stock appeared to be far higher than I have ever seen it except, curiously, for Tritons which alone seemed to be in short supply.

At this rate I fear that they might follow the Leisure First example...................

Have you checked the Highbridge dealer site? They have discounts on the 20 Eriba vans in stock of between £4k and £9.5K.

Cor blimey look at those prices . You can buy a small house in S Wales for that price. Makes us even more happy with our middle aged Troll which we bought some 14 years ago for 7 grand and after tens of thousands of miles between then and now it's still probably worth at least ...........................7 grand.

We visited Highbridge in August and it looks like they haven't sold an Eriba since then.

Why are Leisure First very keen to buy your Eriba if they can't sell them.?

LF have stopped advertising in the CMC magazine, which is something they've since at least 2010.
They need to keep buying in stock as they no longer have new vans coming in, or part exchanges from buyers of new vans.
Plus they can advertise for buying in vans on their website but either offer a stupidly low valuation or say they're overstocked and not offer a deal, when it comes to an actual approach.

I think that before LF started selling new vans they got much of thier used stock from Europe. Quite easy to do in a Port Town but I assume Brexit has put a stop to that?

You are correct Roger. I believe the original vans mostly sourced from contacts in France, but I'm guessing these came from further afield. The first adverts I recall showed the vans being sold from a bungalow? driveway, that I'm guessing might have been Cameron's? parents.
When they got main dealership status they seemed to go a bit funny on grey imports and the non fire retardant labelled upholstery. Possibly as he was no longer selling privately but as a dealer, so different rules applied.
I'm sure others can fill in the gaps/correct me.

WHen you think what you can get for much less, it's no real shock. And, with a more comfortable bed that you don't have to be an acrobat to get out of LOL I love our Betty but I wouldn't say no to many others.
I think a lot of people with money in their pocket want a van these days.

I believe Cameron is a later edition to AL as when we bought our Troll in 2010 the main man was Ian he was answerable to a guy called Steve who we never met. At that time they were operating out of a large building in Poole with a totally covered showroom.

I remember the ads from the Poole bungalow drive and most of the stock were Continental vans that had to have the rear lighting altered etc. At the time the £ was strong against the European currencies (pre Euro maybe) but the trade became far less profitable as the £ weakened. IIRC that was early to mid noughties.

Andy that all ties in. In 2007 I collected a factory order from Belgium of my new Troll 552GT. With the £ at just under Euro 1.5 the exchange rate was excellent and my £12.5K van would have been about £16K from a UK dealer. It definitely paid financially to bring a van from across the channel.
