Round hookup box

Hello all,
My Eriba 540 has a round hookup box with a damaged hinge. The hinge is a flimsy affair and one of the little bits of plastic has broken. I have a couple of questions please:
Is replacement of the box a diy job....just thinking about keeping everything watertight.
Are the round boxes available as a spare or would I be better fitting a more robust version....again thinking about keeping watertight.
Anyone with experience of changing these things please?

Do you mean one of these ?:-

Mains hook up plug.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte) Mains hook up plug

If so, as easy as wiring a 13amp plug.

Or perhaps you mean this:- https://seaflo-uk.com/mains-hook-up-inle...van-41283-p.asp

A bit more difficult as you have to connect it from inside the van but certainly doable..

If the latter of Roger's suggestions it needs to be secured and sealed in place with a good caravan sealant.

Thanks....but I really meant the housing itself....I'm fine with the electrics. Thanks for taking time to reply.

I can't recall ever seeing a circular shaped EHU connection box, a picture might help.

I believe all new Tourings have a round external flap. That man JohnE would definitely know of a supplier.

If that is the type of box then they are relatively new and I doubt anyone has experienced replacing one. It's hard to say if alternative, more robust versions would fit without knowing the dimensions/shape of the hole through the van side. Most alternatives are rectangular/square and may not fit the hole. A replacement like with like may be the best option and treat the replacement with kid gloves. It looks to be a style over substance job like quite a bit of stuff on newer Eriba Tourings.

I would say very much "style over substance". The flap has an inaccessible, flimsy hinge which just hasn't lasted. This is on a 2023 540.

Looks like it is the same as used on my 2022/23 Feeling.
I must have been lucky as I have found the hinge on the flap to be no more problematic than on the Eriba Tourings I have owned. In fact I recall issues with the springing on the two of the four Touring's I owned.
When I collected it new from the dealer back in 2023 they had removed it to re-wire as then van had left the factory with reverse polarity.
A few weeks later it parted company with the van when I tried to unhook the mains cable. I do not know if it had been poorly re-fitted or it was a design fault. I re-fitted it with longer and heavier gauge screws into the inner 1/2 of the fitting and all now seems to be fine.
