Shoddy subcontractors

Having paid the high but expected fee for the supply and fitting of a Reich mover, we are delighted with how it does its job, but for one simple daft thing.

We can't use it as it should be with the remote control.
I can't believe Reich themselves manufacture the actual remote which came with the gear. It is very shoddy and probably poor subcontractors supplying the remote.

1/ the inaccessibilty to the batteries in that it only allows access into half the battery container. I tried to change with great difficulty the brand new batteries. The replacement I used were new and still didn't work the thing.
2/ the batteries are loose and not firmly located.
3/ the only way I could get the red light to come on, was to leave the cover off and to fiddle and slightly jiggle the batteries while pressing ops buttons and finally getting some action.

This happened on all four operations around the Stratford meet. Leaving home and arriving. then leaving the site and arriving home.

I messaged AL for a replacement yesterday, not reply yet so will chase them up now.

I had the Reich Comfort mover on my Troll, the handset was as good as anything I had used before.
the battery cover was a little flimsy, but hey you only change them annually. I thought there was a tape
under the batteries to pull them up to remove them.

Ours has a single 9v battery and requires two presses of the 'on' button in quick succession to turn it on. (It also turns itself off if unused for a relatively short period to save on battery consumption.)

This really annoyed me until I read the instructions and realised that it was I that was at fault and not the remote.

Ah, that explains a lot. I do have a set of instructions, but it seems so straightforward (the remote control, that is) that I didn't read them closely. Like AC, I was annoyed by the obstinacy of the on-off button, and the speed at which it switches itself off again once you've wrestled it into life. Moral: RTFM!

I reckon it's more likely to turn itself off to avoid inadvertent button presses at unfortunate moments than to save the battery. I doubt it'd use much battery - if any - until you press one of the knobs, but having an active remote in the back pocket of your strides when you bend over might make a tonne and a quarter of metal and wood do something you don't want it to.

I can imagine. Fulminating with a rage bordering on the incandescent, I should think

Ours has two AA batteries, also no pull up tape.

AL said send it back, they will test and replace if necessary. Did so today and said I want it back Thursday latest.
Not overly confident to be honest, we will see.
