Hi to all.
After looking at Nevilles ( Hob ) lovely caravan today i couldn't help notice how yellow and tired our plastic moulded door inner was compared to Nevilles. Its got a few minor cracks here and their and the sun seems to of turned it from its nice white colour when new to a tobacco coloured yellow. I was thinking of lifting the door off its hinges when i get back home and undoing the handle ect and spraying the internal plastic door trim with something like Plasticote paint and also repairing some of the small cracks with a sutible filler.Has anybody else tried this route and was you very successful with it.
Many thanks for reading
John

I have used the platicote paint on my old Schreiber wardrobes that had gone tobacco colour with the sun. I was really impressed they looked like new with a fantastic finish. I would imagine you would have the same results.

you could always wrap it, with vinyl, as a alternative

If you paint watch out for the vents for overspray
looking forward to the photos
good luck with the move

Thanks for the advice and ideas POP.
I will hopefully have a look at it in a couple of weeks time after i find my feet with the house move all done and dusted. Vinyl wrap sounds interesting though.
If i was to spray it , it would be a nice sensible cream or white but if i had it Vinyl wrap the worlds my oyster with patterns ect. I could even have a picture of myself on the door just to remind me how good looking i am. On second thoughts i don't think i would get all my double chins on it.
Many thanks again
John

I think i will try that before anything else. It would save alot of agro if it scrubs up well.

If you are using Plasticote, you will need to clean the plastic really well beforehand anyway. Preparation is the key.

I have done my dashboard and door cards, in my van with plasticote, and have been on for about 4 years now, still like new....!

I used Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner, which has a degreaser and bleach in it, and gave them a real good scrub with a stiff brush. When dry, one coat of plasticote primer, and three coats of plasticote, satin finish. Job done, happy days.

Did you manage to get this sorted John?
When we bought our 2000 Puck L from AL last year, they'd painted the inside of the door which I think they do on a lot of their used vans. Looks very well done with no over spray or masking mishaps. Just need to source a new, whiter vent cover now.
Might be worth a call to see what they use etc, if you haven't already finished it. If you have, pics would be good.
Cheers,
Mark

That does look like a good job Mark. I'd be interested in having a go at ours.

Bear in mind ordinary primers\undercoats used for metal are not good for painting plastic and may even be harmful
