Curtains for Soplair Awning?
Curtains for Soplair Awning?

My recently purchased s/h Familia came with a Soplair awning, in very good (little used) condition, however the curtains are missing ..... does anyone know where I can get replacements?
I've looked on the Soplair website as well as a couple of awning specialists that I found from googling, but cannot find awning curtains listed anywhere.

Hi Terry and welcome to the forum.
Soon after we obtained our awning we got ride of the curtains but if our memory serves, there was nothing special in their manufacture, just a few rectangles of material with some special awning curtain clips Werbung: LIKE THESE attached to the top.
Therefore they could be quite easily made to a pattern of your choice.
We also remember there being a loose elasticated cord which hooked into the sides of the awning near the bottom of each curtain that the curtain slide behind to keep it close to the awning window.

Thanks Randa - the link to the curtain clips is most helpful. Getting hold of suitable fabric should be easy enough, however finding someone to sew hems on it might be more of a problem.

We have two Soplair Bourgogne awnings (one 2003 and the other a couple of years later) and they have different methods of attaching the curtains, not that we've ever used either set. Be sure to obtain the correct fittings.
We carry a small steam travel iron which gets used on long tours. It makes more sense to us than lugging a month's supply of clean clothes around the Continent.

We take a minimal amount of clothes away on our long trips, all folded and packed into plastic boxes, and still bring back things unworn. The rest gets washed and drip dried to straighten it out. If you wear patterns and are careful about what materials they are made of you can get away with being unironed! Nearly all the campsites in France have washing machines for the bedding and towels, so with that and careful choice of a washing day weather-wise, we don't find any need of duplication, which saves a lot of space.

Neil has a T shirt with a message on it. It reads "When planning a trip lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half your clothes and twice the money" I don't know who originally penned it but it's the rule we follow.
