Next question.
Where can I get 2.m wide tent fabric to make a simple sun canopy for our wee Puck? I only can find 1.5 m stuff.

A sailmaker or possibly a chandler may be worth a try.
Alternatively why not find a really cheap, old broken caravan awning and salvage the roof . They are usually made from the better materials and often Tencate.

I have used Brian Park Camping (google it) they seem to have everything, fabric, tape, piping cord to sew on so that you can attach the lining into the groove, eyelets, skirt fabric - you name it anything you need for awnings / tents! Very quick postage in fact the kit I ordered yesterday (skirt with piping attached, plastic eyelets so I can secure to ground and plastic eyelets and suction hooks to attach skirt to wheel arch have just arrived this minute!! Give them a go and I am sure you will find everything you need and more! :))

Regarding the threading of the skirt through the channel being hampered by the wheel arch, you can solve this by starting to thread the piping from the wheel arch on the other side of the van!

Hi, I have jus t finished first preparations on the Gelert awning and will be taking it out for our maiden voyage next weekend to Devon! I have not yet sewn the flap along the edge of the tent yet but will see how things go. You can by the mud flap in different widths from Brian Parks Awning which is where I have purchased all the other items for the transformation (skirt, plastic snap shut eyelets, piping tape etc) and you can also purchase window netting for awnings and tents which would solve your problem of the tent getting very hot (if you are a dab hand on the old sewing machine -as it seems you are!,)! I intend to doI this at some point!
