just read that vacuum cleaners have to be reduced in power, and if you want a high powered version, get one before 1st September, when a ruling comes in.
our dishwasher has an eco setting but it takes 2hr.40 to do the full cycle intensive takes 1hr.30 but uses more energy even though running less time, youd think less time more eco
wonder if the vacuums will be the same?

Yet more barmy legislation from the EU. Maximum wattage from 01 September this year will be 1600 and from 2017 it will reduce to 900 watts.
According to 'Which?' five of the seven cleaners rated 'best buy' in 2013 have motors rated at more than 1600 watts. Vacuums are also to have A to G ratings and Which have said that some machines that do badly in their tests have been given A ratings across the board while others that consistently scored highly have been downgraded.
I find it hard to believe that the European Commission doesn't have more important things to worry about. It will be interesting to read Mr Dyson's response.

Really?
Even with the kerfuffle over excessively bent bananas still warm to the touch?

'2cvs for all' great idea ! as a 2cv driver I have to wish this was true - but even at a lowly 602 cc it is NOT as fuel efficient as a modern car with a far higher engine size :( Neither (for those who find it important ) is it anywhere near as environmentally friendly !)
Which brings me on to my belief, that a vacuum cleaner efficiency is down to the design, especially of the fan ! Excessive wattage really is just a 'sales gimmick' !
