Probably because I've got a weak wifi signal at the moment, I'm having trouble uploading the above link to the Caravan Finder Magazine that has a page dedicated to the title of the thread.
The video, unfortunately I cannot access but the towing mirrors Law diagram is very interesting. For others having trouble with the link here's another feature regarding the mirrors issue.

Is there any more information regarding the Breakaway cables Police check?

Firstly I noted that the © date for this was 2011 ! Units were pulled off the M.Way and checked for load on each wheel of the car and 'van, and total weight checked against the VIN plates of both car and 'van. Condition and suitability of the tyres checked. Extra mirrors (near-side and offside) were checked in a coned area to check for 'blind spots' Breakaway cables checked for correct fitting and type of clip appropriate to the way they were attached. Strangely NO MENTION OF CHECKING TYRE PRESSURES ! This involved " Motorway Police to pull the units off the M.Way,The Highway Agency,VOSA, and the so called "Experts" from the CC and C&CC. At least 4 patrol cars, Highways Agency 4x4 and VOSA van and more High Vise jacketed Police etc than you'd get at a major "incident"

Typical and reminds me of how long they need to close roads for either a minor or major RTA.

I moved the car after unhitching the van at a site in July and hearing a crunch hit the brakes rather sharply ............on investigation I had forgotten to disconnect the breakaway cable it applied the handbrake as required and stretched somewhat .............without breaking ..................a replacement was bought for less than a tenner and soon fitted...................I recommend inspecting your breakaway cable and if in any doubt replace it at the first opportunity

Can I join the "Broke My Own Breakaway Cable Club " ? Did it in France a couple of years ago , Luckily I always carry a spare, but those with sprung key ring type fittings at the caravan end can be a b- - - er to take off and refit , so it's best to use those with another type of fitting like a carabiner or similar

I use a screwdriver (carefully) to prise the split ring which enables me to take out the fitting, but the last time I did it I replaced that with a clevis pin type, much easier
