Just a quick afterthought as no-one else has mentioned it, and don't think I'm being patronising.

You need to completely unroll your lead, I actually run mine across the back of the pitch back and forth until I am connected to the caravan and then connect to the supply, otherwise you are carrying a live lead to the van! I hope that makes sense!

Fully unwinding an extension lead prevents overheating however its unlikely that a 16 amp connection would overheat a coiled cable ................I have seen extension leads melt when left coiled and over used at my former workplace where strings of lighting and extraction fans were plugged into the same coiled lead.................leaving a lead coiled has a similar effect to the coils in an electric heater and generates heat ...................for safety sake it is best to as Agger says uncoil all of the lead and lay it out in a snake pattern behind the van where it is less likely to be a trip hazard also as again Agger says the last connection should be to the site bollard to avoid contact with a live lead.

And the first disconnection should be from the site bollard for the same reason.
