Just received the following from Obelink,

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your e-mail, The number is 199998 created on: Sep 23 2014, 01:36 PM.

We are selling this Eurotrail awning for years now and we didn't get any negative feedback from costumers regarding the fitting at all.

The tent was redesigned early 2014 (new color etc) but nothing has changed regarding the fitting.

For an Eriba Familia caravan we still recommend this tent because we think its the best you will get for this caravan since it is not easy finding an awning for it.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

Marco te Linde

Obelink Vrijetijdsmarkt B.V. Misterweg 179 7102 EN Winterswijk Tel: 0031 543 532632

Does anyone have experience of this new one please?

Jams22 has also bought one for a Troll, he may have had the chance to put it up!

I do think the original one we had from AL was a sample, you can see by my pics the size is all wrong and wasn't the awning shown as advertised! For the price and better fitting, I think this 2014 version will be absolutely fine.

Any observations welcome, it does seem a bit large though?

We are aiming to be travelling south from Calais soon after Christmas - be careful what you offer ;-). Sadly, our new van has been delayeda month, which means we will be using it in the UK as a trial run in November - can't wait to try it out but very worried about the weather!

Hi John and Shirley. Sorry to hear that your Troll's going to be late. Do you know if it's a delayed import or is it delayed at AL? We know that last year some Folk had to put a little pressure on AL to get things moving so a bit of a "nudge" wouldn't go amiss. After all, you don't want it to be delayed even further otherwise it'll be running into the Xmas season.

We saw Jason at the Caravan Show last week. He said he would call today and he was expecting it in the UK this week. We shall see..........he hasn't exactly been pro-active in keeping us informed and it did seem a bit of a coincidence that we only got this news when we approached him in person.

Sounds exactly like the scenario we went through!

We had a very similar awning some years ago and, size apart, it was an excellent awning with space, strength, light and ease of erection.
It looks virtually identical.

I just don't get why we put up with kind of service (from anyone) if I ever buy another new caravan you can bet that I will expect compensation if it is late being delivered, these things are on a planned production line almost to the day! Mind you I suppose if you have guaranteed sales your not going to put yourself out much!! I suppose you have to pay "up front" I'd even take up residence there, and no I'm not kidding

AL service has been very poor to date, and I have the email trail to prove it. It was fine until they got the deposit in June (!) After that they never bothered to tell us anything. We only found out about the delay when we phoned them, a week before it was due in. (They never bothered to reply to an earlier email checking the date was still ok) They then (on 19th September) said they would keep us informed in future - and we heard nothing at all until we turned up on their stand last week, when they said it was probably arriving today. They offered to phone us on Monday (yesterday) to confirm - and they would also email a revised invoice with a discount. Guess what - they didn't. They phoned this morning - apparently his daughter broke her nose and this prevented him contacting us. We will be picking it up next week and I am getting quite excited about it now - but the poor level of customer service has definitely tarnished things. Of course we would much rather have been trying it out when it was first due in but I do understand that delays happen. It's the not being kept informed about timescales that makes it all much worse.

Exactly, delay is not good, but it can be softened by good clear concise communication, whether verbal or written, not a good way to run any business
