Silly question re water pump

Following my recent disaster with blowing the fuses trying to attach a loose wire I have decided to check first before doing anything else]. I have just Miltoned the undersink water container in the Eriba. I would like to clean the whole system, is it ok to put the water pump in the Milton solution and then draw the solution through the pipe and tap? Will I damage the pump or tap?
Told you it was a silly question.
Julie

Hi Julie, thats pretty much what I do, we hardly use ours so every now and then I rinse it with Milton and it keeps my pipes clean, the tap is fine to. I also rinse the plug and waste pipes with bleach, sometimes I block the outlet to let the bleach do it's work, then after an overnight soak, I release the waste and flush it through with boiling water

used Dettol mold and mildew cleaner in the waste pipes that were blocked with a cork, leave for 5 mins and rise out, was amazed with the results

it's quite funny really as most people think it's a military thing! But, I can honesty say that as far back as I can remember I've always cherished what I own. When I was a kid living in a caravan (until I was 13) I had a small bedroom (yep my own room) and had to keep everything folded neat and tidy, and always in it's place. I remember cleaning bikes to earn money or for a favour in return. So I'm stuck with it, the car has had 4 coats of Collinite this week (1 per day) If I have OCD it was probably caused cleanliness when I was a kid maybe I should get someone to give me theonce over

Well I won't win any housewife awards. The car gets washed 2 or 3 times a year (unless it's been wallowing in mud and needs cleaning even more). The Eriba gets cleaned after every trip and covered up between trips. Cleaning of the water system is an annual thing. It's a wonder to me that my 3 girls didn't all contract some awful disease when they were young but we all seem to have survived my lacksadaisical approach to cleaning. Don't get me started on ironing, no really you won't get me started on ironing, unless it's a shirt to go with Neil's suit.
If Graham ever needs anything else to clean or wax he will be welcome here (reciprocal doughnuts can be supplied).
