We did a whole lot of similar research earlier this year! In the end we decided that the Bologna would be best. But then we decided that we didn't really want to bother with a full awning (weight, erecting, drying, transporting, etc.) and that we really liked our AL/NR porch awning or the Fiamma sun canopy in summer (or both). So we decided to take the plunge and upgrade to a Troll next spring.

I have two questions for you Tony if I may :) - remember we are awning novices, so they may be silly ones!

The two fixings that hold the top poles to the van - does fixing these require drilling the van just below the awning rail? If so, did you do it yourself? Drilling a new van feels a bit scary. I looked at the video putting up the Verona and from what I can see, the fixings are the same as those that were in the kitchen drawer in a bag with all the screws when AL supplied the van new. Are they the same? I put the bag in the end cupboard when I put it in the attic so I'll have to find them. Or do they come with the awning?

I cant make up my mind whether we have the Verona or Bologna but I assume they are similar strength, just the Bologna a bit bigger and better ventilation. Did you consider both? if so what clinched it for you? I see with the Verona, you can roll the front panel up and secure it at the top for quick deployment if it rains, can you do that with the Bologna too? The sloping front means that the front of the awning inside will get wet if it rains and so we'd want to be able to zip things up quickly but prefer to be out in the open as it were most of the time except winter, even if a bit chilly. The extra sun canopy thing we wouldn't bother getting as we have the wind out on the van and I don't think it would be worth the almost 400 euros extra for us..

Okay, I lied, there's a third! How much was delivery charge when you ordered from Bax?

Many thanks :) Not sure we'll make it to Winchester ;( but we'll try.

This is the type of bracket and note that it has a spacer between it and the rail.

I will pm you.
