More things to buy........ Cadac, hotplate, low wattage kettle, whistling kettle....

Not quite the newbie now - we've had 16 nights in our new Eriba since picking it up on October 28, on 5 different sites. So pleased with it, and looking forward to more adventures. It's in storage now until we pick it up on January 5th with the aim of heading south to Spain asap after that for several weeks. I will be posting more questions for all you good folks about that as soon as I settle down with maps etc....but meanwhile I think I would like to buy the above items to take with us.
In particular I would like a Cadac Safari Chef.....but I'm a bit confused by what fittings I need to connect it to the (red) gas cylinder though.....do I have to buy a "Safari Chef Deluxe" and what else do I need?
Many thanks for any advice

Many 'Eribists' - like Kathy and myself wouldn't be without our 'Remoska' cooker in both our Eriba and indeed at home ! Very low wattage (about 425 watts) make it ideal for 'continental' Camp Sites :)
Very versatile - and very expensive for what it is !!!! BUT excellent "life time exchange guarantee "and only available at "Lakeland", we still think it's worth the money :)
Worth investigating !

Hi,
We bought a Safari Chef shortly after buying our Eriba Troll. It has been wonderful. You need to buy the 'LP' (Low Pressure) version if you wish to run from a large cylinder. You will then need a length of hose and a regulator.
We currently run ours from a Camping cylinder, but over Christmas, I will run it from a red propane cylinder. All I will do is change the regulator, at that time. For info, I fitted a bulkhead regulator to our Troll, but also carry a Camping regulator, a butane regulator and a spare propane regulator so I can adapt as I go.
It is a very flexible system. It comes with a BBQ grill, a reversible griddle (smooth or ribbed ), and a wok (the lid upturned!), as well as just being a burner for boiling. We have added the roasting tray and pizza stone. I am now after the cast iron pot to finish the collection. So really, we have done everything on ours from frying to roasting a chicken. When roasting, turn it as low as it will go, leave the lid on, and walk away. It uses a tiny amount of gas.
Obviously using it outside, it keeps the smell of cooking out of the van (as well as the Carbon Monoxide!) BUT does have a downside - the dial for increasing and decreasing the gas flow is multi-turn and not graduated - you have to be very careful when turning it down to prevent it going out. I always look down between the burner and the pot to check it is still alight when adjusting it. Some people have reported that the flame blows out in the wind. I personally have not observed this.
Anyway, hope that helps,
Regards,
Laurence

I agree with laurence, the cadac is excellent, and you can use it as a patio heater if you stick a washing machine drum upside down on it, I do this when we are on sites where they won't let you have a fire in the washing machine drum
