A fighter of this quality produced so early on in the war, could you imagine
the sort of swathe it would have cut through the enemy bomber streams.
Instead it was held back as a tank destroyer should Herr Hitler cross the
channel. The only reason to limit its operation otherwise was dodgy
hydraulic functions. PS looks good enough to have been a Jet fighter
But what a beautiful sleek and modern looking machine, a firm favourite
with me from childhood (I had several Airfix models that I cherished)

Incidently, Miles Aircraft produced a wooden replacement for the Spitfire,
which also disappeared.
