what's on your desktop?

Having recently bought a new digital camera I set it to 16 x 9 ratio so images on tv would fill the screen as that's often how I view them.
With that in mind I changed my desktop image today to a new one without having to try to figure out how to resize it to fit full screen size

So what did I pick? a shot from my last trip

So what adorns your desk top ............hopefully not a basic windows choice

I use any image that catches my fancy and keep it for a month or so then change it,
for something else. Currently it is a Westland Whirlwind Fighter, before that an
American Crow, and before that avery old harness makers pony (a carved wooden clamp)

EDIT I have just seen an Origami fish on http://imgur.com/gallery/0Rj9YJR made from a dollar bill
my new desktop image

I build "Screen Saver" montages from many photographs covering many topics. For example, we have "The kids growing up", "parents growing older" (or in my case, 28 years of hair loss on one page), "cars we've owned", "campsites we've visited", "Eribas we've met".
The last two titles, I've used some of them on here. Currently I have g18p780-Eribas-we-ve-met.html as my Laptop full screen photo but if I leave it for more than a couple of minutes then the screen saver kicks in and the images change using the dozens of other screen saver images described above as a full screen slide show.
One of my favourites is the montage of all you folk who have joined us at Eriba meets......... . .

I don't use a desktop background either. I find that any files on my computer's desktop try to hide behind whatever is in the onscreen picture, and life's too short to go hunting for them. However, there used to be a reason for having a moving screen-saver in the days of CRT monitors, or so it was said: it was to prevent a constant image left on the screen from burning its way into the phosphor coating of the tube. I don't know if it applies to LCD screens – I doubt it. But I still have a screen-saver, just for the sake of it.

I love the photo, especially the sea, Pepe le Pew says my seascapes
would have water running out of the photo as I often get a tilt on them.
Can I use it as my desktop for a while please?

You can select desktop image sizes to leave a plain background behind your icons.

Isn't that the new Swansea University building taking shape on the far shore at Crymlyn Burrows, top left centre? Some say there are more surfers with PhD's in Swansea than anywhere else in the UK.

ps. many years ago the second youngest of our brood, having listened intently to a conversation we were having about Porthcawl, suddenly chipped in and said "Porthcawl, that's where Polar Bears come from isn't it?"

Every May we spend a week in a cottage on Anglesey with our grandkids, I take a photo of them all with Rhoscolyn bay or the cottage in the background. Of course the kids change and grow in 12 months so I always have the new photo as the image on my desktop. I say good morning. When I log on and goodnight to them all at bedtime.

When working in wildest Wales, in the pouring rain,
one of our drivers said he could not see Porthcawl.
I didn't understand as we were nowhere near the
coast so would not expect to, then it dawned on me.
