Caravans burn quickly, get everyone out, call the firebrigade!
This applies to everyone, although last one out can throw in
one of these;

Expensive, but how can you put a price on well being. http://www.blazetechfire.co.uk/#/sachet-...xtgs/4577814102
If it works quickly does it destroy valuables or can they be recovered?

I'd rather let it go up than try to save anything! Unless it's a human life! They can't be replaced

I asked Blazetech what the "shelf life" of their product was, as caravanners tended to "fit and forget"
"Yes, you're correct. So many people forget to have their "traditional" extinguishers maintained each year.
These new products have a 5year, no-maintenance shelf life. At the end of their life, they can be disposed of in normal waste, unlike "conventional" extinguishers, which are classed as hazardous waste".

Does it destroy valuables ?

I expect there would be a lot of smoke damage anyway...........
I had a terrific , sort of re-usable spray extinguisher at one time............re-usable in the fact that you could just push the button on top, and it would spray until you released the button......much like the aerosol sprays. It sprayed colourless gas of some description, and resealed itself if button was released.
No mess, or stain, and it put out small fires. Don't know what gas it was, and needless to say, they are no longer obtainable (most likely more Brussels
interference )

Carbon dioxide and the now banned Halon were not suitable for use in confined spaces.

Thanks for that Rod.........couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called.
Thought it must be some sort of "Elf & Safety" issue..........it was good for doing what it was meant to do, shame there isn't an equivalent replacement.
Good idea, as it was not big and bulky, but another one bits the dust....................,,,,,,,,,,.Ian.

Years ago, when I was a firefighter, we sometimes met halon flooding used to put out fires in commercial wiring ducts and crawlways – for example, in computer networking installations. It was good, and did the job properly, but, as crow says, halon is not breathable; it works by displacing the oxygen that a fire needs to continue to burn. So we had to wear breathing apparatus – and few Eribanauts have a BA set under the bed.

I still have a halon extinguisher in my kitchen, though, which is exactly as logburner describes. However, halon is a CFC, a "greenhouse gas", and its use is banned not so much on account of personal health and safety, but because it probably contributes to global warming. Like cow farts.
