I moved this from the links section to the Eriba-related section because you can't reply to posts in the links bit. I hope you don't mind. It saves the threads in links going off at tangents, welcome though tangents are.

There are some reviews on Amazon, and the few people who have reviewed it seem to like it and are happy that it does what it says on the tin. I seem to remember seeing other favourable reviews elsewhere too.

My own thought, for what it's worth, is that you can achieve the same end result - albeit not as conveniently - for about one sixth of the price. And that £600 price tag doesn't include the satellite receiver you'd still have to buy, assuming you've already got a suitable telly.

A bit of assiduous Ebaying would get you an appropriate dish and means of mounting it, an LNB (the Low Noise Block downconverter which attaches to the dish and which sends the satellite signal to the receiver and thence the telly) and a High Definition receiver for not much more than a hundred notes - less if you are happy with a standard definition picture. If you do go down the road of buying a static dish, don't pay extra for a 'High Definition' LNB because there isn't such a thing.

Buying an Easyfind LNB and similarly-equipped receiver will cost a bit more, but not much more.

The beauty of Easyfind is that it does most of the hard work of finding the satellite signal. Clearly the Snipe does all of that hard work - and that's pretty impressive - but you do pay an awful lot for the privilege.

Five hundred quid buys an awful lot of beer and Pringles.

I apologise if I've come across as a bit disparaging about self-seeking satellite dishes. I don't intend to be.

.

As Crow said, I've one and have used it extensively throughout the UK and France (down as far as the Gironde and across to Aix-Les-Bains) and works great.
Regarding security I have a double length of Halfords bicycle security cable which I loop one end around the corner steady on the van and the other with a long clasp padlock through one of the mounting holes on the SNIPE. I normally just mount the SNIPE on the top of the carrying case as that provides a stable enough platform.
