The strangest thing for me at least, is although I officially retired 5 years ago, I still recognise weekends.
My advice to others thinking about retiring early? Go for it. You may think you can't afford it but with a serious tightening of the belt you'll get by.( not literally however for I've had to buy a bigger belt in the pound shop )

I missed my last day in work due to heavy snow and the college being shut! They must have foreseen it, though, as I had a very touching goodbye gathering the afternoon before. That was 4 years ago and I haven't looked back. Wouldn't have time to work now. Best thing for me is not having to get up in the dark.

First day today with no job feels strange somehow, I had a good send off yesterday unexpected the amount of people that came. Received a cracking gift, big buffet excellent send off with very kind words.

I have been down to the flower shop for a couple of hours helping out the boss today. Here we go then chill time for a while at least anyway.

Another good thing about retirement is you can go on holiday when you want, we are fully bombed up ready to go, just require a change in the weather but apart from that we are all ready. It's just a bit damp and chilly here this morning.

Hiya Agger,
Same here we would like to book for Easter and I know hanging on will lesson our chances of a good site but just waiting for some inclination as to the weather. I have two sisters in Australia they can book 5 year ahead and be almost sure of good weather depending on the month of course. We in poor blighty struggle from day to day.

We have no specific area in mind, but would just like it to brighten up, I had just finished cleaning the car (wash, dry, wax, valet) and we had hailstones, not in the forecasts I've seen
