Tracking
Started (optimistically) to get the puck ready for the spring and thought I’d change the tyre (off side) as it was looking a bit worn. Got it off and to my surprise found that the inner-side was hardly touched, on a car this would be a case of tracking. Before I take it into the white van service guy the question is can the tracking be adjusted on the puck?
An interesting question Dave.
We had exactly the same problem with the door side tyre on our Troll last year. In our case however, although I suspect that it had been wearing unevenly for some time, it only became obvious during a 1000 mile journey as far as Barcelona. On leaving home all looked OK but by the time we reached Catalonia the tyre was illegal although the inside of the tread had plenty on it.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere else that someone had a similar problem and found it to be either a brake binding or in the case of the Troll a defective damper? But just searched and cannot find it?? Maybe someone else will have better luck

I don't know about Dave, but in our case we had the van serviced when we returned and everything checked out as OK. The tyre we returned on, brand new, showed no measurable sign of uneven wear and the service engineer and our tyre specialists have suggested that it could have been the 5 year old inexpensive tyre coming to the end of its life.
It'll be taken off the wheel shortly so we'll hopefully find out more then.

If the bearing is knackered enough to cause acute tyre wear it won't run smoothly, and like as not you'll be able to feel movement in it if you hold the tyre across its diameter and try to rock the wheel on the axle.
It might also be worth parking the van on a level bit of road and having walked away from the back of it a little way in a straight line, hunker down to look underneath.
One side noticeably lower than the other might well point to a duff damper or worn suspension rubbers as Rodders says.
.
Thanks for all the posts I'll have a visual myself and if cant see anything obvious in it goes

Reading about tyre wear on various sites age, on budget tyres, does get mentioned
something to do with cheaper carcass materials.
That looks like its been running considerably "toe out"
Low pressure and a weak sidewall "might do it" but i doubt it, the tyre doesn't look that old (still see the bobbles on the sides) have you looked for a date?
How long have you had the van? could it have been used on another vehicle before you acquired the van?
Personally I think an inspection of both the tyre and the axle geometry are called for.

As a rough check of the wheel camber make a 90 degree piece of ply to place next to the wheel on the van touching the tyre and see if there is a difference between the top and the bottom.
