Hitch locks

Hi,
I am a caravaning Newbie, so please forgive my questions.
We are buying a 2003 Hymer Eriba 310 Touring GT, we will need a hitchlock and wheel lock, are these security devices universal? can I but anything?
Regards
Rob

Hi and welcome to the forum, Rob.
You will more than likely find that your insurance company will, as mine does, require that you have both a hitch lock and wheel lock fitted at all times that your caravan is left unattended. That means on your drive, in storage, on site and even at motorway service areas if all occupants go to use the facilities at the same time.
There have been numerous threads on here about this so I'd suggest that you do a search (using the button above) and then, if you still have questions, post them in this thread and we'll all do our best to help you.

Good to have you aboard Rob from Carole and Derek, good words from Brian aka Aaron up there.
Bet you have lots of equines to look after up there.

Do you have the Alko or the Winterhoff stabiliser? both do their own hitchlocks.

Or, of course, there is the original:-http://www.towsure.com/al-ko-aks1300-hitch-lock
and I suddenly see why many folk travel with their AL-KO hitch lock, locked in place. At that price it would break my heart to lose it.

Hi and
Hope the attachment works... we use the Alco1300 and the wheel lock as below. Very quick and easy to get on and visually will deter that opportunist thief.

It sounds like the usual problem of it being unwound too far so that it fouls the cir-clip you can not wind it on too far because it just clicks when the ratchet engages but it is all too easy to unwind it past the necessary slackness required to release the friction pads' grip.
