I've just bought a lovely 1979 Eriba Pan and looking forward to going to France this summer! It's my first experience of caravans...

A local caravan shop said it might be difficult to find a hitch lock to fit because of its age. Has anyone got any suggestions? It's so hard to tell what might fit looking at what's available on line.
I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Thanks!

I suspect that many of us use Alko specific locks, yours may be of an older design - so a photo would help ! There are several types of 'non -specfic' locks,so a picture would help get advice from those with older type locks to recommend what they use. You may only need to purchase and use to comply with your insurance requirements ?

Hi Susie,
I did notice somewhere on this site, very recently, someone posted a good source of cover for the older caravan, as some quotes are quite expensive................I should look back through them, and find a good place to get your quote from.........Ian.

my old Puck had the standard hitch and I used to use a lock similar to the one in the link below.

Hi Susie and welcome to Eribafolk. Your new van sounds lovely. We'd love to see some photos when you can.
Bet you can't wait to get away.
Here's a few more ideas for a hitch lock that may do the trick :- Hitch Locks.

Hello and welcome Susie. I have a 1999 Triton 430 and use a Silverline hitch-lock which I bought from Amazon. It was 'second-hand' which meant the packing had been part-opened. However the item was evidently unused. I paid a few pounds for it last year. It is basically a metal ball which expands and is then locked when fitted inside. All quite easy when you get the hang of it. Amazon have them on sale just now. Hope this helps you.

Hello and welcome. We have recently insured our 1984 Familia with K Drewe for a bargain price of £72. The normal insurance companies won't insure if the van is over 30 years old so choice of companies is limited but K Drewe were cheaper than the online quotes anyway :-)

So here's a photo of my hitch, Ribski….(I hope you can see it!)IMG_2886.JPG - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

My friend has one that fits which he got with his caravan - but sadly I can't find any of these on line - an ALBE 2031B053! It's pretty old looking - not even yellow or red!

Meanwhile I'll check out the silver line that someone else suggested…but let me know if you have any good ideas. Thanks!

I must say you're a very welcoming bunch! Thanks all!
