For about 5 years now, we have been carrying a Coleman Windbreak around with us for use with our flysheet/sunshade, to give us a bit of privacy.
However, in our opinion, it's the most clumsy, useless bit of kit we've ever had the misfortune to buy and use. Apart from the fact it's too tall, it also relies on a wealth of guy ropes, both inside and outside, to keep the thing up. When erected, there are so many guy ropes, you need to have the agility of a Filipino bamboo pole dancer to get past it.
Therefore our closed season project was to go back to the basic 50's/60's wind break that relied on a spiked pole system.
We purchased 5 Blue Diamond Poles and used the same material that we used for our window sun shades. The only addition we made to the original, well tried design was to use some plastic plumbing piping and pipe clips to brace the tops of the poles.
Today, while taking advantage of a fine weekend and potching around with the Eriba, we tried it out for the first time. It has potential considering we didn't bother to hammer the poles too far into the rocky ground.
