Mr. Steamerpoint states that people were using their PM system to offer unwanted goods and services.
I cannot understand what you were thinking of!

I'd like to know how they know! Can they really see pm's? I've always been assured by the many other forums I have frequented that pm's cannot be seen even by admin! I know for a fact "authorities" can access them easily enough. Are you telling me my pm's and those of many others are open resource for Steamerpoint, and StuartAB (who I call half watt cos he's not very bright! ;-) )

I can assure you that on this forum we cannot (nor would we ever want to) read your private messages.
We know, 'cos we've tried - only joking.
Also, if you are in a forum chat with another person and you click on the 'start private chat' button, your conversation will remain strictly confidential.

So would mr Steamer be making an assumption!
If I was affected I'd be asking for proof!
It looks more like a dicktatership (spelt wrong on purpose because it is appropriate! ) with everything I read about the otber place, on reflection I'm glad I was banned and not part of it

If you open forum chat at the bottom right of your screen the chat box will open and to the right you will see lists of who is "in chat" - usually just yourself because the system doesn't get much use (hint!), and "online" - all the members currently logged in.
Now click on the name of someone who is online and another pop-up will open giving you various options such as 'start private chat' and 'invite'.
I'll send this post then invite you to chat with me so you can see what happens.

Well, you're wrong Mr Cleverclogs. This is the place when it was still thriving and there was meaningful work for everyone who wanted it, including the 'dock fairies' as the prostitutes were known locally.
Goole Docks long ago
It makes me very sad to see the scale of activity then and compare it with now.

Ok so here am I sitting somewhere in the middle
Despite my doubts I am still a member of the other forum I chose to remain hidden to the users but from experience as an admin team member the forum admin team know when I'm on-line my online status will be shown to the admin team as my name will be displayed in italics
So they are not prepared to ban me just for being here ..................Now I must attempt to be "devils advocate"
I know what has been happening on the other forum I was there when agger made his point of view clear I was also there when Silverfox elected to leave I also have a screen print of ellens farewell post
I may not be the sharpest tool in the box as Shreck would say but I do see the need for this forum to sit beside the other forum
There will come a time when the other forum will have to admit to this forums existence ( for the sake of steamerpoints spy I hope you report back)
no accusations as to whoever steamerpoints spy is (I'm not in the business of castigating genuine members)
However in the long term we will have to sit down with the other forum or forever be at odds with them (a position that I see has no benefit for either forum)
So I see the need to make peace (as war is the only alternative)
Therefore I appeal to Steamerpoints spy or alferego whichever the case may be to report back to the eriba forum that although the sh*t has hit the fan there may be a way of keeping ones head above water
Just my opinion as a single member of this forum as ever in a democracy the majority rules please feel free to comment
Neville

There's such a thing as an uneasy truce with the occasional cross-border incursion. A bit like the relationship between North and South Korea.
The difference here is that the incursions come from the repressive dictatorship and not the democracy.
