I need to some how carry a 1.20 meter satellite dish with me when I go down to Spain - anyone any thoughts as to how I can attach one to my Troll? I am going to buy a bike rack that fits on the A frame - just need the dish to complete the holiday kit.

Hi Andrew .. to EribaFolk....
I have one of the A frame bike racks on my troll but don't have any knowledge of fitting a satellite dish... That having been said I am sure that there will be someone on here who will be able to help....

Sorry but do you mean how to transport it or how to fix it for use?

Not sure how to carry the dish but, I would say that with a 1.2 dish you would probably only get a signal in Northern Spain but not ITV / BBC programs.
We live in Southern Spain ( Near Marbella ) and we need a 1.3 dish. It may be of interest to you to tell you that for the last 18 months ITV /BBC programs have not been available in Spain via a sky dish.
We have overcome this slightly by having the sky family package whereby we can get ITV2,3 etc but no BBC programs.
I don't know which channels you would want to watch but the only way you will get ITV 1, channel 4, all BBC channels etc is via wifi.
We have a VPN app onto our iPads and that way we can watch almost anything via BBC iplayer/ ITV player/ sky go etc providing the wifif signal is good!!
If not we download the programs overnight when the strength is better.
Hope this is of some help.

BBC and Sky Satellite News is useful for dish sizing. http://skyinmadrid.com/pages/news.html
Would the dish not lie flat on the made up bed?

As Randa (lf) says it is usual to mount large dishes on a
separate tripod the link above may help

I too would recommend a tripod - don't forget that you need 'line of sight'' with the satellite - it's easier move the tripod than move the Eriba (if the dish is fitted to the 'van) to get the signal ! It's not the height that's needed - just 'line of sight' :)
As far as transporting the dish,as suggested, why not put it inside, on the bed ?

Many thanks for coming back to me. I'm not thinking or attaching to the Eriba, I just need a method of transporting it with the caravan - somehow on the outside - any thoughts. Andrew

Although quite an expensive solution unless you'll be doing a similar journey regularly Andrew, the safest way that I can think of is to fit a rear bike rack to carry the dish. There was one for sale on here last autumn but if it's still for sale you'd have to find a way of shipping it to France. bike rack for sale
As Frantone suggests, would there be any room on your intended front bike rack? Talking of which, here's a useful thread:- Front bike carrier

We took a 1 mtr dish down to the south of france, the dish was carried under a false floor in the back of the Shogun, the dish was mounted on a speaker tripod outside of the caravan, work great, easy to line up, BUT NOTHING WORTH WATCHING ON THE TV ANYWAY, BUT BEING A RADIO HAM I DID IT JUST TO SEE IF YOU COULD GET A PICTURE. Not taking it again. So I have a 1 mtr dish for sale!!!
